Block C, Core 2 will be handed over this Friday, with the remaining blocks following shortly after. The development has been recognised with awards from Premier Guarantee and the Considerate Constructors Scheme, and more recently received the Best First-Time Buyer Apartment award at the First-Time Buyer Awards. These achievements reflect the commitment and collaborative effort of everyone involved in the project.

Housing association VIVID has appointed PMC Construction as principal contractor at Victory Quay in Portsmouth.

Work is now underway to prepare the site laying the foundations for a new community on Portsmouth’s northern waterfront. Once groundworks are complete, construction of the first phase of 183 new homes can begin with 835 new homes planed in total.

Tristan Samuels, Group Development and New Business Director at VIVID, said: “Victory Quay is about more than building homes — it’s about building futures. Phase 1 lays the foundation and sets the tone for everything we’re building here, and the appointment of PMC Construction a local contractor who understands the importance of this site to the city marks a key moment in turning vision into reality.

“Their experience and collaborative approach give us confidence as we move into the delivery stage — bringing forward the first homes and the beginnings of a new community.”

Steve was nominated by Dominic Mackrill at Eastleigh Borough Council who hailed his ‘dedication’ and ‘absolutely first class’ approach which meant that dozens of people were able to celebrate Christmas in their new home this year.

“…the level of quality and dedication to achieving as close to perfect finish as I have seen has been incredible…we have moved families in virtually straight away, meaning all 28 apartments (including the 10 social homes, the first for the Local Authority since 1992!) will be in and settled for Christmas. This box isn’t big enough to write all the praise for Steve.”

Work has begun to build much-needed affordable homes for Gosport families.

Gosport Borough Council is creating 15 new council homes for local families to rent at an affordable rate.

The properties are being built in three locations: Seven at Stoners Close (a mix of four and three-bedroom), three at Glebe Drive (all two-bedroom), and five at Wheeler Close (a mix of two and one-bedroom). All three locations were previously underused garage sites considered ideal for the new homes, which will improve the appearance of each area.

Construction at each location has begun and is expected to take around a year to complete.

Cllr Sue Ballard, Chair of the Housing Board at Gosport Borough Council, said:

“This is a project which has been many years in the making, involving many councillors and officers, so I am delighted to see it off the ground.”

“It will provide vital new affordable homes for Gosport families who badly need them, and help tackle the shortage of affordable housing locally.”

These are the first new council homes built in Gosport since 2016. They will be allocated to people already on the housing register, in accordance with Gosport Borough Council’s allocation policy.

The council is working with contractor PMC Ltd and local builders to deliver the new homes. An information event was held earlier this year for neighbouring residents of the three areas.

The new homes are expected to be ready for families to move into in 2025.
